Bachelor students must meet the qualification requirements of their majors by gaining certain credits. Thus, the total credit for completing the education should be 132 credits (264 ECTS) and 72 credits (154 ECTS) accordingly.
To earn a Bachelor’s degree each student has to fulfill 3 essential requirements:
- University requirements
- General education requirements
- Qualification requirements
University Requirements: English language and Azerbaijani Studies, consisting of 27 credits (54 ECTS).
The English Language section consists of 15 credits (30 ECTS):
- Listening Understanding and Speaking; Reading Understanding and Writing -1 (4 Credits) 8 ECTS
- Listening Understanding and Speaking; Reading Understanding and Writing -2 (4 Credits) 8 ECTS
- Listening Understanding and Speaking; Reading Understanding and Writing -3 (4 Credits) 8 ECTS
The Azerbaijan Studies section consists of 12 credits (24 ECTS):
- Azerbaijani language-1 (3 credits) 6 ECTS
- Literature of Azerbaijan - 1 (3 credits) 6 ECTS
- Azerbaijani culture (3 credits) 6 ECTS
- History of Azerbaijan (3 credits) 6 ECTS
- For Specific Areas - English for Specific Purposes (ESP) (3 credits) 6 ECTS
General Education Requirements: Consist 3 main parts that include a minimum of 21 credits (42 ECTS).
The general education requirements are for students studying undergraduate degrees to provide them with additional specialization in different scientific fields. Regardless of the merits of the student's major, general education requirements enable students to expand their intellectual perspectives and grow up as highly educated individuals in the future. In addition to majoring subjects, from the first and second years of the course, students may choose from the subjects offered by the general education requirements. A total of 21 credits (42 ECTS) must be completed in the General Requirements section comprised of the following 3 parts as follows:
Humanitarian
Social Sciences
Science and Technology
Humanities section: This section offers subjects such as Literature, Language and Linguistics, Philosophy, History, Culture and Civilization, Art and Art History. Students are required to complete at least 2 courses, 6 credits (12 ECTS) each course, with 3 credits (6 ECTS).
Social Sciences section: This section offers subjects such as Geography, Political Science, International Relations, Law and Government, Anthropology, Economics, Sociology and Psychology. Students are required to complete at least 2 courses, 6 credits (12 ECTS) each course, with 3 credits (6 ECTS).
Science and Technology section is one of the main parts of the general education requirement, and it is also divided into 3 parts:
Physics and Mathematics
Life sciences
Computer sciences
Students can complete this section through passing Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy; subjects in the field of Geography and Environmental Sciences, such as Geology, Biological Sciences and Anthropology and subjects in the field of Medical Sciences. Students are required to achieve 3 credits (6 ECTS) in each course totaling at least 9 credits (18 ECTS) by completing 3 courses in this area of specialization. Depending on the methods and essence of the courses that are offered in the proposed subjects, they may also apply to different sections. For example, Anthropology, Psychology and Geography may be part of the Department of Social Sciences and the Department of Sciences.
