BE-OPEN aims to strengthen effective, inclusive, and responsible digital transformation of education and science through the implementation of Open Science principles and values at national and institutional levels in Partner Countries (PCs), Georgia and Azerbaijan. The academic community in PCs have recognized the importance and advantages of OS principles, which is manifested through the numerous initiatives undertaken by the government bodies, faculties, libraries, NGOs, and journal publishers. However, in the absence of coordination, compromise on standards, and a solid legislative support, these initiatives seem isolated and ineffective from the global point of view.
BE-OPEN aims to advance OS in both PCs. Specific objectives: 1) To promote culture and to build consensus on Open Science principles and values implementation at national and institutional levels in PCs; 2) To build human capacities in order to ensure the university transition for sustainable Open Science practices in each PC; 3) To develop Open Science infrastructure at each PCHEIs; 4) To advance legislative framework on Open Science at institutional and national levels in each PC.
BE-OPEN project plans to improve institutional OS policies and practices through a series of bylaw changes that will prepare researchers for the labor market and society by facilitating their career development. Further, it will enhance their level of competences through a series of practical trainings in transversal and transferable skills. Thus, it will harmonize the digital transformation of university research potentials and foster regional cooperation in the Easter Partnership countries with EU developments in HE sector.
